Seedream 5 Flash, Lite and Pro: Settings Compared

Compare Seedream 5 Flash, Lite and Pro image-size rules, output counts and editing workflows before selecting a model for production.

Seedream 5 Flash, Lite and Pro should be selected by their actual image-size and output-count contracts, not by assuming that “Pro” permits every setting available in “Lite.” The reviewed Raywake endpoints expose different size ranges and different multi-image behavior.

That distinction matters for catalog production. A pipeline that expects one output, a particular crop and a fixed maximum spend can behave differently after a model switch even when the prompt is unchanged.

The differences that affect a production request

The table below describes the reviewed text-to-image operations on 19 October 2026. It is an endpoint comparison, not a ranking of visual quality.

The ranges are pixel-area constraints, not a promise that every width/height combination inside a bounding square is valid. The endpoint can have additional aspect-ratio rules or adjust a requested size.

Why can Lite expose a larger size range?

Model tier names are product labels. They do not define a universal ordering of output dimensions. A useful integration reads the current contract for each operation and stores the chosen settings with the result.

If your design needs a wide banner, verify the supported ratio and resulting dimensions before scaling to many assets. Do not change the model string in a saved request and assume the new endpoint accepts the same size. A nominal auto_2K preset can also conceal different rules across model families.

For web assets, first define the final display size, crop margin and required detail. A larger image is worthwhile when it provides useful room for layout or close crops. It is not a cure for an incorrect product shape or misspelled label.

How can output counts multiply?

In the reviewed Lite contract, num_images describes separate generations while max_images enables multiple images within each generation. The documented possible total is between num_images and their product.

For example, two generations with a maximum of three images each can return between two and six images. That is an output-count illustration, not a price quote. If your pipeline expects one hero image, start with both controls set to one.

When you do need a series, decide whether you want independent variations or a related multi-image sequence. Save the returned count and each asset's relationship to the brief. Avoid naming the first returned image “final” before an editor has reviewed the set.

Which operation should receive a packshot?

Use an edit operation when an approved product photograph is the source of truth. Text-to-image is appropriate for a new concept; it does not preserve a product image that was never attached.

The live Raywake pages for Flash Edit, Lite Edit and Pro Edit expose the applicable inputs. Check those edit contracts separately from the text-to-image table above.

A useful first brief changes the background while preserving silhouette, color and label. Compare the complete object and a close crop. If identity drifts, simplify the instruction and reduce competing references before buying a larger batch.

A small-batch decision process

Prepare one representative asset and write three acceptance checks. Choose a matching output size and a single output. Obtain the quote, run the intended request, then record whether the asset passed.

Only after that first review should you increase output count. Track the cost per approved image, including rejected variants. A lower nominal per-image price does not establish a lower production cost when the acceptance rate differs.

Raywake's product-image model guide maps editing requirements to model controls. The pricing page explains the shared USD balance used by the studio and API.

Common questions

Does Lite mean lower resolution than Pro?

Not in the reviewed text-to-image contracts. Read the size rules rather than inferring them from the name.

Does a prompt asking for six images guarantee six outputs?

No. Use the operation's output-count controls and inspect the actual response. Natural-language requests do not replace the schema.

Are the covers examples from these three models?

No. This article's cover is an editorial illustration made with Nano Banana 2, not a Seedream quality comparison.
